"The combination of music with the other arts is an attempt and vision of mine. Directing the works, defining the technical parameters, communicating with the artists and bringing theatre, image, poetry and painting together with music, is one of the most difficult tasks in composition. Because composition is not only the sound shared between the instruments. For me, composition is to join different elements together with a coherent result. That is where my effort and love lies."
Biography
Irini Mavroyanaki (Eirini Mavrogiannaki) was born in Heraklion of Crete in 1993. She studied composition at the Ionian Univeristy (bachelor studies) and Anton Bruckner University in Austria (master studies). Her book "Flute Extended Techniques: A Guide for Composers" was published by Scholars' Press Publish House. Eirini has collaborated with the concert Hall of Thessaloniki, has attended many seminars in composition and won the second prize in creative writing from "Psychogios Publications". She has composed music for ensembles, one work for Orchestra, two string quartets, numerous works for solo instruments and five works based on performance art combining music with image, painting, poetry and theatre.
